Tory Burch Introduces Limited Edition Vote T-shirt
To inspire civil involvement and contribute to turnout in the approaching midterm ballots, Tory Burch LLC has fashioned a limited edition Vote T-Shirt. 100% of the net proceeds will advance actor and activist Yara Shahidi's Eighteen x 18 initiative and its forthcoming #WeVoteNext Summit to inform and encourage the next generation of voters. The t-shirt is available in all Tory Burch stores in the United States and at shopbop.com and toryburch.com.
The t-shirt and allied #OwnYourVote social media campaign extend Tory's backing of civic participation and voter turnout. Before the 2016 elections, Tory wrote an Op-Ed piece for The Wall Street Journal encouraging voting initiatives and detailing her accord to give Tory Burch staff time off to go to the polls. She also animated other CEOs to do likewise and cultivate a culture where the significance of voting is recognized and celebrated.
Voter participation in the United States is persistently depressed. In the 2016 general election, 58% of Americans voted and 40% voted in the 2014 midterms. The issue is manifest among millennials, who are the largest cluster of eligible electors, yet, in the 2014 midterms, less than a quarter of them made it to the ballots.
