Sands Macao Fashion Week
Sands Resorts Macao hosted Sands Macao Fashion Week (SMFW) with fashion happenings, hypes, and shows throughout the blended space. Highlights were the Walk on Water runway shows at Shoppes at Venetian on a purpose-built catwalk on The Venetian® Macao's canals. Boutique Shows at Shoppes at Parisian and special events were open to both the trade and the public. SMFW was created to showcase the retail brands at Sands Shoppes Macao and to vitalize nascent local fashion designers.
After the success of last year's debut, SMFW18 kicked off with Emporio Armani showing its Fall/Winter 2018 collection in concert with Rainbow Group. This at a private gala held in The Venetian® Macao's palatial main lobby, for 220 celebrities and a sprinkling of the fashion elite.
Celebrity models leading the runway were Hao Yun Xiang, Lina Zhang, and Hui Jun Zhang. In the audience were Chinese actor Ryan Zheng, actress Karlina Zhang and actor and singer Jiro Wang. Actress and singer Stephy Qi also made a special guest appearance.
The Walk on Water shows kicked off with the 2019 Spring/Summer collection from brilliant local Macao designer Nuno Lopes. The first Macao designer to be featured in Vogue magazine, Lopes showed his 40 ready-to-wear and haute couture looks.
As part of Sands China Ltd.'s evolving support of Macao's cultural and creative resources, the closing show starred other local designers. Ten Macao fashion labels introduced new collections. Eight local designers also presented clothing as part of an exhibition at The Parisian Macao's Rotunda throughout the SMFW18 show.
Other fashion happenings and offers were Your BAZAAR Statement Tee vending machine, Cosmopolitan Fashion-style Reverse House photo booth, Versace Chain Reaction pop-up, Versus Versace promotion campaign, and a Victoria's Secret Dream Angels collection pop-up.
David Sylvester, Executive Vice President of Global Retail, Las Vegas Sands Corp., said: 'After last year's successful inaugural event the industry demanded Sands Macao Fashion Week become a permanent fixture on the international calendar. For our second edition, we have again presented a series of thrilling shows, parades, and exhibitions featuring some of the world's biggest brands, alongside stars of the local fashion industry, highlighted by the launch of the Emporio Armani Fall/Winter 2018 collection.'
'The continued success of this now indispensable event would not have been possible without the support and participation of everyone who attended, along with our partners and the Macao Government, and we would like to express our wholehearted gratitude.'
